2D Barcodes Part 2: mp3 and colours

Today, I am exploring Snapmaze that allows you to make 2D barcodes with different colours. Also, I tried to do a barcode with an mp3:

In addition, I think that everybody needs a positive phrase everyday, so here are different barcode with different colours to think more positive. To see this quotes or download the mp3 just use your mobile phone's camera.

Finally, I found Maestro that allows you to insert a location on a map and work on dimensions and colour!

A possible final use in a calendar to have a positive and maybe unknow phrase everyday/month

I'll improve some interface and narrative elements for the final project.

Weekly Route

For this week I decided to track my routes from Saturday to Wednesday. I used it Google Maps and the Map software of my mobile phone to save some locations and use them as a guide to draw the lines later on Google Map.

It wasn't too easy because it is not automatic as maybe would be tracing the routes with a GPS software...

Here are the results:

I feel that maybe it is too much information but it was the task and I think that is useful if you want to understand the traces above.

2D Barcode: Promoting Latin American Poetry

Hi!

This weeek I created some 2D barcodes using i-nigma. These codes have poetry poems of Mario Benedetti, from Uruguay in English and Spanish. You can red the texts, downloading i-nigma to your mobile to use it as a scanner.

My idea is to do more 2D barcodes related with Latin American poetry and maybe putting them together or distributed in different places... I'm thinking in that.

To see the complete procedure go to: http://themediaexperience.wordpress.com/2010/02/22/read-mario-benedetti-tactics-and-strategy/

Brighton & Santiago Routes: From train stations to ???

The basic map is a route from Mapocho Station to bar "La piojera" in Santiago, Chile.
Mapocho Station used to be the main train station of the country and now it is a cultural centre and bar "La Piojera" is one of the most traditional Chilean bars full of tourists and local people.

I decided to work with this map, wondering if I was going to arrive to a bar too in Brighton... so, let's see what happened.

You can compare the area in Brighton and Santiago looking to the photos in each icon.

Working with processing

Yesterday I decided to try some experiments with Processing following basic tutorials. I worked with shapes, colours, images and movement and with blocks with links.

Here are the images. I'll try to upload the files.

KMZ-CAST

For this week I wanted to continue experimenting with GPS, Google Latitude and now Google Earth. So, I exported the history of my trip from Brighton to London (recorded on Google Latitude) to Google Earth. Then,  I created a file of this trip as a "pod-cast", so it is a "kmz-cast".

The idea is to enable this file to be downloaded by people to view it on Google Earth. Of course this is a simple trip but with this experiment I can try to make a different map on Google Earth and upload it to my site so people can download it later and maybe learn with it or play.

Google Latitude: Mobile experiment

Hi!

Well, Monday was a completely mobile day ehehehe, so I decided to try Google Latitude, a Google programme that connects with the GPS of your mobile and register all the places where you are. If you enable that to be public you can share your location with your Google Friends... I tried it and here is the registration of my trip of Monday, from Brighton to London and moving in London.

S.O.S.. I need help with GPS

Hey! I wanted to do a project using GPS and mapping a route but I couldn't! I tried several times and with different softwares but I didn't know what to do.

I tried using Openstreetmap but when I uploaded my file (.lmx, because of Nokia) I had problems with that. So, I looked for a way to convert .lmx to .gpx and I found JOSM (a software) but I (again) I tried to work with my files without any result.

I have more ideas to keep trying, but maybe you already know how to work with GPS... Please, tell me!! hehehe. I think my problem is the sort of file that my mobile phone records.

Interactive Map: Summer Holidays in Chile

Hi!

Here is an experiment that I tried to do with my friends in Chile. The idea is an interactive map about Summer Holidays in Chile. So, I created a map on Google Maps and invite some friends to put a mark in the place where they went/are because of summer holidays and to upload a photo. Some friends participated but it was difficult because they didn't know how to work with Google Maps, particularly because the photo has to be online to be published.

I wanted to do this because I'm thinking in doing some interactive game and I wanted to try using maps as a platform.

Here is the result:

Playing with GPS

Hi again,

Yes, I like this new stuff (for me): Maps! During these days I have been playing around with the GPS tool of my mobile phone, looking for my position, routes, etc.
On Sunday I registered the route from my home to the university (to Sport Centre)
Here are some screen shots of maps of my mobile phone.

Example GPS Information:
Map 1 (Going Out):
           Latitude: 50º49'39.78"N
           Longitude: 0º08'56.98"W
           Position accuracy: 25.71 m
           Altitude 125 cm
           Altitude accuracy 26 m

So, with this data my idea was to draw a map with all those data but I couldn`d to dit... So if you have any idea, please tell me. I have the route on my phone (as a map) but I would like to draw it like this, maybe drawing by hand:

Exploring my mobile phone and Brighton

Hello everyone!

First of all, I got a new mobile phone with Bluetooth and even more!! so I am very happy and excited with the idea of exploring this new mobile toy. Because of that, this weekend I decided to walk in Brighton looking for stores with discounts for students to embed that information on a Google Map.
I have to confess that when I did this project I didn't know how to use maps on my cellphone so I took photos to stores, wrote the information on my mobile phone and then I worked with Google Maps on my laptop. Probably now I would do that different, using maps on my mobile phone, but that is part of learning process :).

I will use this map to New Development course also, because we are working with maps there and it is very related with Mobile and Locative concepts. I have some further ideas to do with this map, thinking in the idea of giving information to students in Brighton.

Have a look:
